Functional Genomics For Effective & Personalised Mental Health Care
Discover the Genetic Clues to Complex Mental Health Conditions
LATEST RESEARCH, TESTING & TREATMENT PROTOCOLS
Learn how the latest genomic testing can assist practitioners with creating personalised mental health treatment protocols for better patient outcomes.
PERTH, WA
4-5 JULY 2025
Have you encountered patients who report lifelong depression with little to no relief from antidepressants?
Or patients whose symptoms worsened after starting SSRIs?
Certain neurotransmitter-related genetic SNPs can predispose individuals to deficiencies or excesses in key neurotransmitters, impacting their response to treatment.
Research highlights that environmental factors often act as triggers for mental health conditions, further complicating the picture.
Understanding these genetic and environmental influences is crucial for providing personalised, effective care.
Your clients may be stuck in their progress because of hidden genetic factors.
Learn The Skills Required to Improve the Health Outcomes of Patients with Mental Health Conditions... using Functional Genomics.
This workshop is for practitioners who want to understand the missing genetic and biochemical pieces driving anxiety, depression, and medication resistance.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Understand how genetic SNPs can predict antidepressant response and treatment resistance.
- Spot methylation issues linked to panic and anxiety
- Confidently interpret key SNPs and what they mean
- Strategies to identify genetic susceptibilities and environmental factors in mental health conditions.
- Use genetics and biochemistry to guide targeted nutritional and supplement support in personalised treatment plans.
- Gain clarity on how to navigate complex cases using a genomic perspective.
- Confidence in applying genomics-based insights to improve patient outcomes.

2-day Interactive Workshop for Health Practitioners
We invite all practitioners and health care professionals to join us for this deep-dive workshop where you will learn the latest genomics research and techniques to support mental health by using functional genomics testing, blood and organic acids testing.
THIS EVENT IS NOT RECORDED OR AVAILABLE BY VIRTUAL ACCESS
Day 1 – Mastering Methylation: Understanding Key Pathways, SNPs, and Environmental Influences
Dive deep into the biochemical underpinnings of mental health by exploring essential methylation cycles and how genetic and environmental factors interact to impact well-being.
- The Folate Pathway: Learn how this critical pathway influences methylation and why its dysfunction can predispose patients to mental health challenges.
- Methyl Blocks Explained: Understand what a methyl block is, its role in acute mental health issues, and effective strategies to address it in clinical practice.
- The Methionine Cycle: Gain insights into this vital process, its connection to neurotransmitter synthesis, and its role in mood regulation.
- CBS Pathway and Inflammation: Explore the impact of the CBS pathway on sulfur metabolism, inflammation, and their cascading effects on mental health.
- Interactive Case Study: Apply your knowledge through a real-world clinical example, analysing and addressing methylation imbalances.
DAY 2: Personalised Mental Health Care: Neurotransmitter Cycles, Medications, and Nutrition
Focus on the practical application of genetic insights to mental health care, with an emphasis on neurotransmitters, medication selection, and nutritional support.
- Neurotransmitter Pathways:
- Serotonin Cycle: Understand how genetic SNPs and environmental factors affect serotonin production and balance.
- Dopamine Cycle: Learn the genetic and biochemical factors that influence dopamine regulation and its role in mental health conditions.
- Medication Insights:
- Learn how to identify genetic variations that predict why certain antidepressants may work or fail for individual patients.
- Discover strategies to determine the most effective treatments for different types of depression.
- Treatment Resistance: Understand the biochemical and genetic factors contributing to why some individuals don’t respond to traditional therapies.
- Nutritional Support for Medication Management: Learn how to support patients using targeted supplements and nutrients based on their genetic profile to:
- Optimise neurotransmitter function.
- Titrate or safely reduce medication use, where appropriate, for improved long-term outcomes.
Leave this workshop knowing:
- How to identify key genetic SNPs that may predispose to mental health issues.
- How to identify and address a methyl block that may be the key contributing factor to acute presentations of anxiety and depression.
- The key environmental influences to mood disturbances.
- How to confidently interpret genomics data (not just order tests)
- The latest research and clinical updates on the mechanisms driving these disorders.
- A clear framework to identify medication resistance before it happens.
- How to confidently integrate genetic testing into your mental health protocols.
- Start treating based on individual biochemistry.
If you have always wanted to know how to introduce genetic susceptibility into your practice but just don’t know where to start, this workshop is for you.
“This truly is personalized medicine at its best. I can't thank Carolyn enough for sharing her vast knowledge with me in a way that I could understand and use it. It was an awesome experience. I highly recommend, your patients will thank you for it.”
